Your every buying decisions matter more than you realize. Economic strength is often discussed in terms of policies, trade agreements, and global negotiations. But in reality, a large part of it is shaped quietly through everyday consumer choices. India imports far more physical goods than it exports, and that gap directly affects foreign reserves and employment. What often gets missed is how closely this connects to everyday buying choices. Even a small shift towards products made or assembled in India can strengthen domestic manufacturing, support small businesses, and create large-scale employment when done collectively. The effect does not stop there. Income circulates within the economy, spending increases, and growth spreads across multiple sectors. History offers clear examples. The Swadeshi movement, Japan’s manufacturing rise, and the revival of the US auto industry all show how public participation has helped build economic strength. India’s recent progress through Make in India, particularly in electronics and defence, follows the same direction. This is not about rejecting global trade or judging what people already own. It is about awareness while making future purchases and understanding how those decisions influence economic stability and national confidence. આપણે વૈશ્વિક ચર્ચાઓ વિશે સાંભળીએ છીએ. પણ હકીકતમાં તો દેશની આર્થિક સ્થિતિનો મોટો ભાગ ક્યાંક છુપી રીતે આપણી રોજિંદા ખરીદીના નિર્ણયોથી બને છે. ભારત જેટલું નિકાસ કરે છે એના કરતાં ઘણી વધારે વસ્તુઓની આયાત કરે છે. આ તફાવત સીધો દેશના વિદેશ ભંડોળ અને રોજગાર પર અસર કરે છે. ઘણીવાર આપણે એ વિચારતા નથી કે આપણી રોજની ખરીદી આની સાથે કેટલી જોડાયેલી છે. જો આપણે થોડો પણ પ્રયત્ન કરીને ભારતમાં બનેલી વસ્તુઓ લઈએ છે, તો તેનો મોટો ફાયદો આપણા દેશ ને જ થાય છે. સ્થાનિક ઉદ્યોગો મજબૂત બને છે, નાના વેપારીઓને ટેકો મળે છે અને વધુ પ્રમાણમાં કરવામાં આવે તો મોટા પાયે રોજગાર સર્જાય છે. એટલું જ નહીં, કમાણી દેશની અંદર ફરી ફરીને વપરાય છે, ખર્ચ વધે છે અને અનેક ક્ષેત્રોમાં વિકાસ ફેલાય છે. ઇતિહાસ પણ આ વાત સાબિત કરે છે, સ્વદેશી આંદોલન હોય, જાપાનમાં ઉત્પાદનનો ઉછાળો હોય કે અમેરિકાના મશીનરી ઉદ્યોગનું પુનર્જાગરણ. દરેક જગ્યાએ જનતાની ભાગીદારીથી દેશની આર્થિક તાકાત ઊભી થઈ છે. આજે ભારતમાં ‘Make in India’ હેઠળ ખાસ કરીને ઇલેક્ટ્રોનિક્સ અને ડિફેન્સ ક્ષેત્રે જે પ્રગતિ થઈ રહી છે, એ પણ એક સુંદર ઉદાહરણ છે સ્વદેશી આંદોલન નું. આનો અર્થ એવો બિલકુલ નથી કે ગ્લોબલ ટ્રેડનો વિરોધ કરવો કે જે લોકો પાસે જે છે એની ટીકા કરવી. વાત એટલી છે કે આગળથી જયારે પણ આપણે કંઈ ખરીદીએ ત્યારે થોડી જાગૃતતા રાખવી અને સમજવું કે આપણી પસંદગી દેશની આર્થિક સ્થિરતા અને આત્મવિશ્વાસ પર કેવી અસર કરે છે.
