Saturnalia Promo Video (buy the CD EP or download at http://www.caudapavonis.com) CAUDA PAVONIS bring you a true alternative to Christmas in a seasonal offering; the 5 track EP entitled 'Saturnalia'. After the success and acclaim of their 2012 album 'Peace Through Superior Firepower', (twice nominated for Best Album of the Year by World Goth Day and the BCFM Rock Show) the time seemed right to put together a release that celebrated the darker time of the year, the Winter Solstice and Christmas all in one, something the band had considered doing for many years. The title track of the EP, 'Saturnalia', is named after the ancient Roman festival held in December at the time of the Winter Solstice and is presented as an alternative to Christmas; a celebration of all that is pleasurable and exciting at this time of year. The EP also includes an arrangement of the medieval carol 'Gaudete'. Given the Cauda Pavonis treatment, the carol becomes deep and solemn, but with an irrepressible joy. Along with this is a special re-working of 'Winter' from the enormously successful 2003 'Sigil' album and a further new track 'Solstice Anthem', an uplifting track which celebrates the beauty of nature at this festive time.
