What does it mean to be Favored of the Lord? Do you see yourself favored of God? Luke 1:28-30 NIV [28] The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” [29] Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. [30] But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 1. God’s Favor is a Gift, Not a Reward Mary had not applied for this favor. She was a young, ordinary girl from Nazareth. Mary wasn't the only virgin at that time, there were many other vurgin girls. Yet heaven singled her out. This reminds us that God’s favor is rooted in His grace, not in human merit. “You have found favor with God.” Favor is something found, not earned. 2. God’s Favor Brings His Presence The angel declared, “The Lord is with you.” Favor is not merely material blessing; it is the assurance of God’s presence. When God favors a person, He walks with them—even into challenging assignments. God’s favor does not remove difficulties, but it guarantees divine companionship through them. 3. God’s Favor May Initially Be Uncomfortable Mary was troubled and afraid. God’s favor sometimes disrupts our comfort and stretches our faith. Favor often comes with responsibility, obedience, and trust. Do not mistake fear or uncertainty as absence of favor—sometimes it is the evidence of a divine calling. 4. God’s Favor Overcomes Fear The angel said, “Do not be afraid.” Fear is a natural response, but favor carries reassurance. When God chooses you, He also gives you the grace to stand in what He has called you to do.
