Today the Mein Schiff 6 is docked in Gdansk and we are going on a guided tour through the "Pearl of the Baltic Sea". Once an important full member of the Hanseatic League, large parts of the city were completely destroyed in 1945. In the 1950s, the city was rebuilt and extensively reconstructed - based on 17th century models. Today, the city is a gem worth seeing on the Baltic Sea with long boulevards, beautiful squares and a lively hustle and bustle among all the stalls, stores and restaurants in the city center. We visit the most important city gates, St. Mary's Church and many other buildings that are really worth seeing before we treat ourselves to some Polish specialties for lunch: Pirogi (stuffed dumplings) and Bigos (a cabbage stew, Polish national dish). This video belongs to the tour "Baltic Sea with Helsinki", on which we have been traveling with Mein Schiff 6 in July 2023. The trip goes from Kiel via Gdansk, Klaipėda, Visby, Riga, Helsinki, Tallinn and Stockholm back to Kiel. A really great tour.
