A trip to the Ashburton Branch was my first railway outing in 2015, together with GJDobbzy & Hyperen, with the line holding a 9-day 'BR(W) Branch Line Days' event. The main stars of the specials days were recently overhauled 'Auto Pannier' number 6412, which actually made it's public passenger debut on this day featured in the video, and visiting 'Small Prairie' number 4566 from the Severn Valley Railway. On the 14th only, 4566 ran as sister 4555 which was the first engine to run on the then 'Dart Valley Railway' fifty years ago back in 1965, now of course the South Devon Railway. 6412 was the first engine to haul a passenger train on the route in preservation back on the 5th April 1969 but was later sold to the West Somerset Railway association by the DVR in the early 1970's. However, in 2008 the engine went back the opposite way, this time purchased by the South Devon Railway association. The first weekend was more of a warm up for the following weekend, with a limited service on weekdays, in service on the 14th were - | GWR 0-6-0PT 1366 'Outside-cylinder Pannier' class number 1369* | GWR 0-6-0 2251 'Collett Goods' class number 3205 | GWR 2-6-2T 45xx 'Small Prairie' class number 4566 | GWR 0-6-PT 64xx 'Auto Pannier' class number 6412 | BR Class 122 diesel 'Bubblecar' Railcar number W55000* - denotes that this engine/railcar doesn't feature but can be found in other videos of mine. 1369 was only in operation for one round trip to assist 6412 on her first trip as insurance after a few minor adjustments. I didn't get to do much filming and only 'explored' around Buckfastleigh station but we do see auto, goods and passenger workings in this video. Thanks for watching!
