Au Revoir Tristesse was commissioned by Axis Ballymun to whom I am eternally grateful. II La mer, son rythme incessant (The sea, its incessant rhythm) I am very interested in trying to evoke nature in my music, to try to paint pictures in sound of natural phenomena which we may take for granted or from which we have become divorced. In this piece I simply wanted to find a way to recreate the sound of the waves washing up on the beach, from a gentle murmur rising to something more full-throated before returning to a whisper. For me there is nothing more reassuring and comforting than the incessant rhythm of the sea. Filmed at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris by Julie Bienvenu.
