This video will show basic life support for a person who has stopped breathing due to an opioid overdose. In conjunction with airway management and oxygen therapy, this video will demonstrate the resuscitation skillset for a standardized approach for professional responders in pre-hospital settings on how best to respond to an opioid-related respiratory or cardiac arrest. This video is for advanced rescuers, professional responders, first responders, healthcare providers, primary care, harm reduction, and overdose prevention workers. New first aid guidelines in naloxone administration is also covered in this video including how to use nasal naloxone spray and naloxone injectable. This video is not for lay rescuers. It is a video for professional responders highlighting best care practices, resuscitation and emergency response for opioid overdoses. This new CPR level and basic life support training is called "Advanced Overdose Prevention Resuscitation (AOPR)." This is an "add-on" level that will include all of the content in CPR OPR but also includes Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy training and certification. Airway Management: • Opening the mouth • Cross finger technique • Tongue-jaw lift • Airway adjuncts – insertion and removal • Oropharyngeal (OPA) airways • Nasopharyngeal (NPA) airways • Supraglottic airways (Awareness only) • Suction Oxygen Therapy: • Pulse oximetry • Supplemental oxygen • Oxygen cylinders • Oxygen regulators • Oxygen delivery devices • Administering oxygen PLEASE NOTE: This course can come with STANDARD FIRST AID and CPR/AED (level A or C) if required for workplace regulations . I am hoping that this standardized program can be a separate national standard but designed in adjunct to national standard, "CSA Z1650:21 Paramedic response to the opioid crisis: Education and training across the treatment and care continuum in out-of-hospital and community settings." We can help meet the needs of paramedic service organizations (PSO), which will expedite the emergency response standards for both low-barrier and advanced harm reduction emergency response care.
