I woke up early to witness true mud wrestling in Kolhapur. The day before I had visited Gangavesh Taleem already, but it seemed that they practiced very early, so there was not much to be witnessed. I decided to skip sleep and go to the practice the next day. It gets pretty intense with the travelling schedule as I drive by motorbike and usually only stay for a few days. But, it was more than worth it. What an amazing sight to witness and how precious to see history in action. These akharas have a long lineage of wrestlers practicing here and when you're there it feels like it could have been at any point in time in the last centuries. Kinda like time traveling haha.
