Genesis 26 Explained | Isaac, the Wells of Contention, and God’s Covenant Promise Genesis 26 tells the story of Isaac during a time of famine, testing, and blessing. The Lord appeared to Isaac and renewed the covenant made with Abraham: “Do not go down to Egypt. Live in this land, and I will be with you and bless you.” Isaac obeyed and stayed in Gerar, but out of fear he called Rebekah his sister. God protected them, and Isaac prospered greatly, reaping a hundredfold. The Philistines envied him and stopped up his wells, forcing him to move from place to place. Isaac’s servants dug wells: *Esek (Contention)* – quarreled over by herdsmen *Sitnah (Enmity)* – more strife *Rehoboth (Room)* – at last, no quarrel: “Now the Lord has made room for us.” At Beersheba, the Lord appeared again: “I am the God of Abraham. Do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless and multiply you.” Isaac built an altar, pitched his tent, and dug a well. Even Abimelech sought peace, saying, “We see plainly that the Lord is with you.” They made a covenant of peace at Beersheba. The chapter ends with Esau marrying Hittite women, bringing grief to Isaac and Rebekah. Genesis 26 reminds us that God is faithful to His covenant, that peace comes not by fighting but by trusting, and that the Lord is with those who walk in obedience. 👉 Subscribe to explore every chapter of the Bible: / @biblechapterbychapter --- Genesis 26 Highlights: God’s covenant renewed with Isaac Isaac’s fear and God’s protection The wells of Esek, Sitnah, and Rehoboth God’s reassurance at Beersheba Covenant of peace with Abimelech Esau’s marriages bring grief --- *Next comes Genesis 27 — Jacob and Esau, and the blessing that shaped nations.* --- #Genesis26 #BibleExplained #BibleChapterByChapter #Isaac #WellsOfContention #GodsPromise
