Why I Waited So Long to Buy the MicroFreak

I waited a long time before buying the Arturia MicroFreak. It’s been out for years, but early in my synth journey it felt intimidating and overly complex, so I kept putting it off. I wasn’t sure it would fit my workflow, or that I’d really enjoy using it. Now that I finally have one, I’m glad I waited. In this video, I show how I’m using the MicroFreak at a very surface level — no deep dives, no sound design rabbit holes. Just: • Picking a preset • Deleting and recording a simple sequence • Tweaking a few parameters • Syncing it with a drum machine (Roland Aira Compact T-8) I play a simple trance-style chord progression (Preset 3) and pair it with an easy beat on the T-8 to show how fun and playable the MicroFreak can be without fully “understanding” it yet.
