Scale harmonization, ascending and descending, major and minor, all 3 positions (The Rule of Octave)

This video demonstrates the Baroque and Classical approach to scale harmonization known as the Rule of the Octave. There are six examples (in C major, G major, D major, D minor, G minor, and C minor) that show how to harmonize the major and minor scales in both their ascending and descending forms. They also illustrate how to vary the melody, by providing all three chord positions in the right hand, which begin on the root of the tonic triad, the third of the tonic triad, and the fifth of the tonic triad. A cadence known as a compound cadence is affixed to the end of each scale harmonization. Note: the figured bass shows a raised sixth on scale degree six when descending in minor; this is optional and reflects a later practice of using a French augmented sixth chord here. The notated realization and performance in the video use the diatonic (not raised) sixth, or a half-diminished seventh-chord.
