In this GameGuru Max tutorial, we’re taking a deep dive into the Mesh Sensor behavior, a powerful system that lets you detect and interact with individual meshes inside a single 3D model. Instead of treating a model as one solid object, the Mesh Sensor allows you to assign interactions to specific parts of it. That means one model can trigger multiple behaviors, HUDs, or gameplay systems depending on exactly what the player clicks on. In this example, we tour the Mantis Evasive, courtesy of C4ever08, and interact with separate stations inside the same structure, activating a crafting station from one mesh and opening the inventory bay from another. We also discuss an example of a soda machine where each individual button dispenses a different flavor. One model. Multiple interactions. Clean setup. This opens the door to a huge range of design possibilities, including: Control panels with multiple working buttons Elevators with floor-specific selectors Arcade machines with playable interfaces Lockers or drawers that open independently Weapon racks with selectable loadouts Modular crafting benches with category tabs Puzzle devices where each component responds separately Vehicle dashboards with interactive controls If you’re building immersive environments and want your props to feel functional instead of static, the Mesh Sensor behavior is a must-learn tool. As always, this tutorial is designed to be beginner-friendly while still showing how flexible and scalable the system can be. Let me know in the comments what creative uses you come up with for Mesh Sensors — I’d love to see how you apply it in your own projects! Special thanks to C4Ever08 for the demonstration. Look out for his game "Mantis Corp." coming soon!
