For the final episode, Megumi Tanno performs Mendelssohn's Op. 67 No. 3 (Andante tranquillo). Although untitled in the Henle edition, it is often called "Song of the Pilgrim" (Pilgerlied). This piece holds a special place in Megumi's heart. It was the piece she played for her entrance exam to the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague in 2001. She recalls her first fortepiano teacher, Yoshiko Kojima, and the memory of recording this on a MiniDisc in Saitama, Japan. Playing it now on the 1825 instrument brings back the touch and memories of that time instantly. As the quote says, "My end is my beginning." "Timeless Nostalgia": Music allows the past to visit the present freely. This is not just looking back, but bringing the "warmth of the past" into the "now."
