On 20 November 2025, the UK Covid-19 Inquiry published its second report focussing on UK decision-making and political governance. This indisciplinary event will bring together experts in law, governance, public health and human rights to reflect on the key takeaways from the Inquiry's report. The webinar built upon the Bingham Centre's work hosting the Independent Commission on UK Public Health Emergency Powers. Chaired by the Rt. Hon. Sir Jack Beatson FBA, the Commission reviewed the UK's public health legislative framework and institutional arrangements, alongside government decision-making during the Covid-19 pandemic. It made 44 recommendations for changes in law, policy, practice and procedure in a report that was published in May 2024. Chair Professor David Feldman KC (Hon), FBA, FRSA, Emeritus Rouse Ball Professor of English Law at the University of Cambridge, and Commissioner with the Independent Commission on UK Public Health Emergency Powers Speakers: Dr Ruth Hussey CB, OBE, DL, Deputy Chair of the Health Foundation, former Chief Medical Officer for Wales, and Commissioner with the Independent Commission on UK Public Health Emergency Powers Professor Jeff King, Professor of Law at UCL, and Commissioner with the Independent Commission on UK Public Health Emergency Powers Dr Rebecca McKee, Senior Researcher at the Institute for Government Dr Colin Caughey, Director of Policy at the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission Find out more: https://www.biicl.org/events/12067/ra...
