What Can International Disaster Law Learn from Global Health Responses?

This webinar marked the launch of a new report and policy brief examining what international disaster law can learn from global health responses. Developed in collaboration with BIICL, the University of Strathclyde Law School, and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the publication sets out practical recommendations for negotiators and other stakeholders involved in a proposed UN treaty on the protection of persons in the event of disasters, which the UN General Assembly aims to conclude by the end of 2027. Drawing on experiences from global health emergencies and the recent adoption of the Pandemic Agreement, the discussion highlighted key lessons for strengthening international disaster law.
