How to turn a vessel with 360 degrees controllable thrusters such as azimuth thrusters or azipods? This video is a short demonstration on pod manoeuvring with various pod settings for heading and speed control as well as advantages and disadvantages of certain arrangements. It is valid for operations with independent pods (manoeuvre mode, AZIMAN) without any limitations. The dynamic prediction of SAMMON Monitoring is used in order to vidsualise the ship's dynamics induced by various pod handle settings. Different ships require different manoeuvring strategies as well as the navigator's level of training and experience does. This video isn't a lecturing video. It is a demonstration on possible pod settings and their effect on the ship's dynamics during a port arrival.
