Is the U.S. headed towards war with Venezuela? As tensions between the U.S. and Venezuela continue to heat up, all outcomes seem to be on the table. On Dec. 9th, we sat down with Charles Shapiro, former U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela, to unpack everything we know about what's happened so far, the potential for further U.S. military action, and what could come next. A career foreign service officer with 34 years of service, Amb. Shapiro held a number of senior positions at the United States Department of State including Ambassador to Venezuela, Acting Assistant Secretary for the Western Hemisphere, and Coordinator for Cuban Affairs. Moderated by Megan Clark Torrey, CEO of the World Affairs Council of Connecticut – Hosted by the World Affairs Council of Connecticut in partnership with World Affairs Councils nationwide: Alaska World Affairs, Baltimore Council on Foreign Affairs, Columbia World Affairs Council, Columbus Council on World Affairs, Commonwealth Club World Affairs (Northern California), Iowa City Foreign Relations Council, Los Angeles World Affairs Council, Olympia World Affairs Council, Savannah Council on World Affairs, World Affairs Council of Albuquerque, World Affairs Council of Atlanta, World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth, World Affairs Council of Hampton Roads, World Affairs Council of New Orleans, World Affairs Council of Northwest Ohio, World Affairs Council of Rochester, World Affairs Council of San Antonio, World Affairs Council of Tacoma, World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, World Affairs Council of Western North Carolina, WorldBoston, and WorldOregon. – For more visit: https://ctwac.org/events/ – Follow us @ctwac on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. – To renew your membership or become a member, consider the member levels on our website.
