A good oil can delay rides a beautiful line between murky delay and washy reverb. The Catalinbread Adineko is a fantastic representation in this class, with its dark, warble-y delay repeats that wash into near-reverb sounds. I love using this type of delay when I want my repeats to stay in the background of my playing, but want lots of flutter and modulation on them to create unique ambience.
