However, it's a recipe that involves making pastry dough which can take a long time and effort. The alternative to American Apple Pie is Apple Crisp which is much faster to make since its base is made from oats. Delicious Apple Crisp Ingredients: 2 green apples 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder 1 tablespoon corn starch 1/2 cup instant oats 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder 1/4 cup melted butter Apple Crisp Directions: 1. Peel 2 green apples using a paring knife. Slice and remove seeds from the apple. Cut into cubes. 2. To the apple pieces, add 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder, and 1 tablespoon corn starch. Combine well and keep aside for 15 minutes. 3. In another bowl, combine 1/2 cup instant oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup all purpose flour, 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder, and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder. Add 1/4 cup melted butter and mix everything together. 4. In a pie pan, sprinkle flour mixture on the bottom. Then spread the apple mixture evenly on the pan. Cover the top of with the rest of the flour mixture. 5. On the stove, set up your makeshift oven. Use a kadai. Turn the stove onto medium flame. In the kadai, add 2 cups salt and put a stand on the salt. Then, heat the kadai which is covered with a plate for 10 minutes. Place the apple crisp pan in the kadai and let it bake for 40 minutes.
