From Grindelwald, take a cable car ride to First. A ‘warm-up’ hike then leads to Bachalpsee. Watch out for the cows! If you are up for the challenge, continue on to Faulhorn. With its summit sitting at 2,681m (8,796ft) high, it can be tough to reach. However, hikers are rewarded with a full-service rest stop and a beautiful view. The Schynige Platte stretch was a bit rushed (needed to make sure there was enough time to catch a train ride back to Wilderswil). I will surely be back to capture more of Schynige Platte and its scenic views… with steadier camerawork! Friendly tip: If you plan to hike the 16km First-Faulhorn-Schynige or Schynige-Faulhorn-First trail in one day, please make sure to come equipped and know what time public transportation will stop running for the day (roughly 5:30pm for the Schynige-Wilderswil train and First cable car).
