Recording of the COMP Career Catalyst seminar "Residency Applications: Open Discussion with Medical Physics Residents on Their Experience!", which took place on October 11th. This virtual event is designed to create a relaxed environment where speakers and attendees can openly discuss questions and concerns related to residency applications and program experiences. We are excited to welcome three residents to this year's seminar: Dr. Haley Patrick is the current first year resident at BC Cancer Vancouver and a recent PhD graduate from McGill University. She was an active participant in the 2023 MedPhy Match, organizing crowdsourced data, conducting surveys, and managing the community Discord. Dr. Clara Fallone earned a Ph.D. at the University of Alberta, specializing in optimizing Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy for fat quantification. Following a residency in Halifax, they spearheaded the commissioning of Ethos HyperSight Halcyon. Now a physicist at Tom Baker Cancer Center in Calgary, they focus on brachytherapy and MR commissioning for the new cancer center. Dr. Mark D'Souza is a first-year physics resident at the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He acquired his BSc from the University of Waterloo, where he was enrolled in the Honors Cooperative Life Physics program. Following this, Mark completed his PhD in the CAMPEP accredited Medical Physics program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), where his research focused on water calorimetry for novel radiotherapy techniques.
