This level crossing received a full renewal in 2013 during the Poole to Wool re-signalling project when the line's signalling control was moved all the way to Basingstoke and the Wessex Rail Operations Centre. Despite the rural location and its infrequent pedestrian use, this is Dorset's only level crossing with an Obstacle Detection system (LIDAR's and RADAR's scanning the crossing constantly until the barriers have lowered, a procedure typically started automatically when a train approaches), which is a little odd as its pedestrian usage appears even more sparse compared to other nearby renewals as part of the same project. As can quite clearly be heard, one of the alarms here has had its day and produces a fast to flat-ish tone sound. Thankfully it isn't any louder!
