On Day 24 of my OSCP+ journey, we step back from tools and walk through a simple, manual Linux enumeration flow you can run right after you pop a shell. I use my local Kali box as a stand‑in target and show how I answer three core questions: Who am I? Where am I? What’s running here? We cover basics like whoami, id, groups, and /etc/passwd to understand users and service accounts, uname -a and /etc/os-release for distro and kernel context, filesystem checks with ls -la, and network awareness with ip a and ip route. I also walk through viewing running processes with ps aux and taking a first look at cron jobs under /etc/cron* for potential privilege escalation angles. This isn’t an exhaustive privesc checklist, but a realistic starting point for building repeatable habits and a personal methodology you can refine over time.
