052 St. Moritz & Pontresina Stations Bahnhof - REOS - Filmed in 2003

In the summer of 2003, REOS visited the Engadin in Graubunden in the South-East of Switzerland. In the early evening we visit the station of St. Moritz. The station electrically, is divided in two: 1 KV DC for the “Bernina” route and 11 KV AC for the main RhB system. Shunting in the station area is carried out by a diesel powered loco, which negates the need for dual voltage locos. At the Bernina side, track maintenance is taking place on newly laid track. Next we visit Pontresina station, which like St. Moritz also operates with two power supplies, however track 3 can be switched between the two voltages. This operation is demonstrated when the Heidi-Express and the Bernina-Express have there locos changed from standard RhB to Bernina power. You will also see two Ge 4/4 II’s double heading a freight train to Scuol. We only use original sound recordings, without any additional music or commentary.
