Walk to Blairdenon Hill and Bengengie Hill (Donalds). Visited the site where the de Havilland Tiger Moth crashed on 30/08/57 where sadly Andrew Cuthbertson (ATC) was killed. Andrew had won a flying scholarship and was probably only 16 or 17 at the time of his death. I had a 10 figure grid reference for Spitfire R6983 (No 58 OTU - RAF Grangemouth) which crashed on 26/09/41. I didn’t expect to find any wreckage as I know its position was only confirmed by the use of a metal detector. I could however definitely see an indentation in the ground where it must have impacted the hillside. Sgt G G Taylor RCAF was only 20 at the time of his death. He was buried at Grandsable. Finally, I passed the old Sheriffmuir Inn at the end of the walk so included a bit about Hercules the bear in the film.
