Welcome back to another video! This one looks at the divide between the jury and public vote which has been used in grand finals since 2009. When the jury and televote points are combined for a country, you would expect them to rank somewhere in between those two placings, right? That happens most of the time, but the unlucky acts in this video somehow managed to place even lower than where both sides wanted them to be! This could happen when the jury or televote each pull up similar placing acts around them due to more of a divide, leaving ones with more consistent opinions even lower. It even resulted in 6 last places! If you're curious about what systems were used to combine the jury and televote and why for some years, the final point total often doesn't look like it makes sense looking at what someone got in either side: From 2009 to 2012, the jury and televote of a given country awarded points to their top 10, with the top 10 of this combined ranking being assigned one set of 12, 10 & 8-1 points for that country's scores. From 2013 to 2015, the jury and televote of a given country's full rankings of all the other finalists were averaged, with the top 10 of this combined ranking being assigned one set of 12, 10 & 8-1 points for that country's scores. From 2016 to present day, the jury and televote each award a separate set of 12, 10 & 8-1 points to their individual top 10s, doubling the points available. All the songs for 2013 may not be true at all due to the lack of released point totals for either side, meaning the ranking is derived using a different way to the other years, so the actual one may be different- I decided to include that year anyway though.
