Soccer Push Pass Click Here for a Video on How to Shield a Soccer Ball: • How to Shield the Ball Click Here for a Video on Tips for Forwards/Strikers: • Soccer Forward Striker Tips Link to Soccer Passing & Receiving Book: https://amzn.to/2Ow5ZMg The form that you should use most frequently for an inside of the foot pass, known as a push pass is: Number 1. Plant next to the ball, while pointing your foot and hips at your teammate. Number 2. Keep your toe up, heel down, and ankle locked. Number 3. Keep your knees slightly bent and your foot slightly off the ground. Number 4. Follow through after making contact with the ball. Number 1 of How to Pass a Soccer Ball with the Inside of Your Foot - Plant about six inches next to the ball Your body mechanics will allow you to turn your leg and pass the ball with the inside of your foot. Keep the leg that is planting on the ground pointed at the person or open space to which you are passing the ball. Keep your plant leg slightly bent. Do not straighten your leg when you are planting for a pass. Also, turn your hips towards the person or area of the field to which you are passing the ball. Number 2 for How to Kick with the Inside of Your Foot - point your toe all the way up, which will make your heel go down. This will naturally lock your ankle. Having a locked ankle will make it so that you have a powerful and more accurate pass. Also, locking your ankle will allows the surface of the foot that you are passing the ball with (i.e., the inside of your foot) to be wider. By pointing your toe down when passing, you make your foot narrower. A narrower foot will create more room for error, which means that your pass will be inaccurate if misjudged even slightly. Also, if your toe is pointed down, and your heel is up, then your ankle will be loose, thereby resulting in a lack of power on your push pass soccer. Number 3 for How to Inside of the Foot Pass in Soccer - Have the knee of your passing leg slightly bent. When you straighten your leg and stand completely upright, you are not engaging the strongest muscle group of your legs, which is the quadriceps. This reduces your ability to be explosive with your shooting, passing, dribbling, running, and jumping. Having a bent leg naturally makes it so that your foot will be slightly off the ground. If you pass the ball with your foot touching the ground or close to the ground, the pass will result in the ball popping up in the air. Part of passing is to make sure that you are making it as easy as possible for your teammate. If you are consistently passing the ball in the air, you are making it more difficult for your teammates. Your teammates will likely then have to focus their first touch on bringing the ball to the ground before their second touch of the ball allows them to attack into space. Ideally, your push pass should be firm, accurate, and on the ground so that their first touch can attack into space on the field. Number 4 for Passing with the Inside of Your Foot - Make sure you follow through on your pass. What you do with your leg after you completely follow through depends on the situation that you are in during the game, scrimmage, or practice. Most times, after you make a pass, you will run to another spot on the field to keep developing the play. Therefore, as you pass the ball (i.e., similar to a shot), you will follow through and land on your passing foot. Then you will bring your back leg forward to take the next step. As you pass, you should already continue to run and maintain your forward motion to the next spot on the field you want to go. However, at times, you will pass the ball while you are not part of the attacking portion of that play. For example, players who may do this are a goalie, or, in some instances, a defender. Therefore, you should follow through after you pass the ball but then bring your leg back to where it was when you began the passing motion. As a result, when you are making this pass, you will end up in the same spot you started.
