Most people don’t fail at goal setting because they don’t want it badly enough. They fail because their identity, habits, and environment are still wired for the old version of them. At Lift Club, I ran a short TED-style talk on: – Why goal setting fails when it’s outcome-focused – How your brain protects itself by choosing the easy option – Why how you speak to yourself dictates how you show up – Why “being busy” is often just an identity you keep reinforcing – How habits carry you when motivation disappears – Why identity-based habits survive when motivation doesn’t – Why alignment means boundaries (and sometimes being selfish) – And the part no one talks about… grief. Because becoming someone new sometimes means letting go of who you were. Consistency isn’t about being motivated. It’s about emotional regulation. It’s about keeping promises when no one’s watching. It’s about your calendar, your actions, and your habits backing your words. After the talk, we went straight into thoracic mobility, core work, then broke down squat and bench — because confidence isn’t built in your head. It’s built under the bar. If you want to become the person who just shows up… You don’t need more hype. You need alignment. Kate 🩵💙
