Emerson explores how the cemetery was discovered on the grounds of an elementary school in the heart of the city and how UWM archaeologists and school administrators turned the solemn occasion into a positive learning experience. Join us as we learn about the early history of Milwaukee and how archaeology can connect us with the past. Pt.2 focuses on the history revealed from the archaeological investigations of the cemetery found on the Maryland Avenue Montessori grounds. UWM ARLC staff discuss the origins of the cemetery, who may have been buried there and how it connects to the early history of the city of Milwaukee.
