originally recorded on 7-23-25 Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Harmon Fading LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights. Signal on the right: 1.5 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Harmon Fading LEDs, 1.5 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, a Safetran Hybrid bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights. After catching the northbound grain(?) train in Newbern, I continued on up to this crossing in Obion, sadly missing the northbound by a few minutes in the process (which sadly also met another southbound in Trimble). Thankfully, after a little while of waiting and about 10 minutes before sunset, I was able to catch my third, and final, train of the day: CN Z195 with a lone ET44AC pulling it for power. I must say, the lighting here was great at the time! This crossing is another great one, featuring a mid-90s IC install that's still almost entirely original! It appears that the only major change here occurred sometime between 2008 and 2012, when CN upgraded this crossing to LED with the current mix of LEDs. Thankfully, since then, no other notable changes have occurred to this crossing. It's nice to see that this crossing still retains its original Safetran Hybrid bell as well, which thankfully still sounds rather nice and healthy! I believe this is the second of the last six crossings on the CN Fulton Sub in Tennessee to still retain a Hybrid bell. Hopefully it also remains working here for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I got to record it when I did as well.
