Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs were two of the most iconic Bluegrass and Country musicians in history. From their endless touring with their band, The Foggy Mountain Boys, to success with recording the theme to "The Beverly Hillbillies" and the movie, "Bonnie & Clyde." Join me as I share a newspaper article from November 6, 1966. In this article, we get a glimpse into Lester and Earl's private world; a world in which they loved to unwind from the road with getting out into nature and taking fishing trips. Earl had been a fisherman much longer than Lester, since growing up in Flint Hill, NC, he had more plentiful good places to fish. Lester wasn't much into fishing until only four years before this article was written. His brother in law kept asking him to go fishing with him. Lester finally went along and became more interested in fishing than even his brother in law had been. Watch as we take a dive into Lester and Earl's other side. The one where they lay down their guitar and banjo and pick up the fishing rods! #LesterFlatt #EarlScruggs #Bluegrass #CountryMusic #MusicDocumentary
