This episode covers how to pack a mountain bike into the regulation-sized bike box common in expedition racing and other long races. This can be quite an intimidating task for new adventure racers, but is actually pretty straight forward. Remember, you will need to practice the process to make it second nature, just like every other discipline in AR. You can get it down to just over 2 minutes (if you remember where your pedal spanner is 😉) but a reasonable budget is 5 minutes max. FYI, the box measures 140 x 80 x 30cm, and is made out of correx or corflute plastic. ALSO, no chickens or cats were harmed in the making of this video.... 00:00 - Intro 00:36 - My bike and box setup 01:08 - The general idea for packing your box 03:42 - Taking the bike apart 04:39 - Beware your brakes! 06:42 - Putting the bike into the box 08:12 - Organising your bits 09:23 - Extra things to put into your box 13:01 - Clamshell vs Drop In boxes 14:07 - Assembling the bike 15:06 - Removing the rear derailleur?
