Being constantly compared to others by one’s spouse can leave deep emotional wounds. In Islam, marriage is built on mercy, kindness, respect, and emotional safety. When a husband repeatedly praises other women while putting his wife down, it can destroy self-worth, trust, and love within the relationship. In this reminder inspired by the teachings of Sheikh Assim Al-Hakeem, we reflect on how harmful comparison is in marriage and how it goes against the prophetic character (akhlaq). The Prophet ﷺ never belittled his wives nor compared them to others in a way that caused pain. Instead, he uplifted, reassured, and honored them. This talk addresses: Why comparing your spouse is emotionally damaging The Islamic responsibility of a husband’s words The emotional rights of a wife in Islam How disrespect and criticism affect marriage Advice for spouses who feel hurt, ignored, or unappreciated If you are a wife who feels broken by constant criticism, know that Islam does not silence your pain. And if you are a husband, remember that your words can either be a source of reward or a source of sin. May Allah guide our marriages toward compassion, understanding, and emotional justice, and heal every heart that feels unseen and unheard. #AssimAlHakeem #IslamicMarriage #MarriageInIslam #MuslimMarriage #EmotionalPain #RespectInMarriage #IslamicAdvice #HusbandAndWife #MarriageProblems #IslamicReminder #MuslimWomen #EmotionalAbuse #Nikah #MarriageGuidance
