Kanjhari Dam also known as Kanijhari dam or Chaka dam by the village name is a medium irrigational dam in keonjhar district. It was our last destination in keonjhar for this year's keonjhar road trip, i had also opportunity to visit it in July few months backs. This is a scenic place, the dam is biggest of the dams near keonjhar town. Apart from the main purpose of irrigating 3 blocks keonjhar, patna and dhenkikote near the dam it also supplies drinking water to keonjhar town. For the same purpose there is a water treatment plant at the dam site. The dam has a beautiful park area which also attracts people for recreational activities and picnic. The dam is only about 3 kms from keonjhar - state capital bhubaneswar national highway and takes about to 10 minutes to reach, the road is not very good condition. I would highly recommend visiting this scenic dam when in keonjhar specially in afternoon hours.
