HIKIHAKU is one of the traditional techniques used to weave the weft threads into Nishijin brocade sashes. NOGUCHI, who studied painting at an art university, pursued new possibilities for metal leaf, so he decided to become an artist rather than the family business of gold leaf production. When he draws HAKUGA, he uses the technique of HIKIHAKU and inherits the tradition in the form of art. NOGUCHI has been active as a HAKUGA artist for 20 years.
