Killed by His Own 'Boy': the Story of Assassination of Tom Mboya 55 Years On

This video recounts the story of the assassination of Tom Mboya, Kenya nationalist, in 1969 by his own boy, Nahashon Isaac Njenga Njeroge. On July 5, 1969, one of the world’s most celebrated African labour leader, turned politician, Tom Mboya was tracked down and killed by assassin’s bullet at Chaani's Pharmacy on Government Road (now Moi Avenue), Kenya. The assassin, Nahashon Isaac Njenga Njoroge, was arrested, tried and executed. But his famous question “why don’t you go after the big man?” would continue to puzzle Kenyans and the rest of Africa to this day. In this edition of Hisple media, we revisit the story of the assassination of Thomas Mboya by is own “boy” and the mystery surrounding his murder 55 years on.
