He was nominated for the 2024 Film Independent Spirit Award for producing KOKOMO CITY, which was EPed by Lena Waithe, acquired by Magnolia Pictures and Showtime/Paramount+ He wrote and directed the short film F^¢K '€M R!GHT B@¢K starring Tony winner Kara Young which premiered in the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and won numerous awards including the Jury Prize at Aspen Shortsfest making the film Oscar-qualifying, the film can be seen on Showtime/Paramount+ and is a Vimeo Staff Pick. He was shortlisted for the Film Independent Spirit Awards' "Someone to Watch Award" for writing and directing the feature film BEAUTY MARK, which earned the 'Breakout Performance' Jury Prize for lead actress at its LA Film Festival premiere, Best Ultra lndie Film Award at the Woodstock Film Festival, Audience Award Best Feature Film at Austin Film Festival. He wrote and directed the short film THE STORY OF MILO & ANNIE featuring Academy Award nominee Cathy Moriarty which won best narrative short at Indie Memphis Film Festival. Harris directed Michael Mitnik's play FIDELITY and Mario Correa's play BETROTHED starring Tim Day & Louisa Jacobson for the 24 Hour Plays; directed Niloufar Nourbakhsh's new opera WE, THE INNUMERABLE presented by National Sawdust and Center for Contemporary Opera; wrote, directed and adapted the film/theatre hybrid feature I SEE YOU AND YOU SEE ME for Queens Theatre which premiered on PBS/WNET. He has written the stage musicals WASP WOMAN, and SALVAGE, as well as writing and directing the podcast musical BLEEDING LOVE starring Annie Golden, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Marc Kudisch, Sarah Stiles, Taylor Trensch and Tony Vincent, which was a top Performing Arts podcast on Apple Podcasts. Harris has written for the TV series “I LOVE YOU BUT I LIED” for Lifetime, “REENACT” for TWST, wrote/directed the satirical webseries THE IVANKA DIARIES as well as the narrative/doc feature THIS MOVIE WILL GET INTO SUNDANCE, and is developing the episodic series MAZEL, BITCH. Harris was an adjunct professor in Columbia’s Film MFA program where he taught “Directing the Actor.” Harris studied acting at The Juilliard School and was Grammy-nominated for his work as a performer on SONDHEIM UNPLUGGED: THE NYC SESSIONS Volume III which was nominated for the 2024 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Harris wrote/directed the short film 8 MINUTES 20 SECONDS starring Tony winner Brandon Uranowitz and Tony nominee Ato Blankson-Wood which is currently playing festivals, directed the upcoming shorts PORELESS and RAVEL, and is currently in pre-production for his next feature films IN THE WAKE and TONE-DEAF, both of which he wrote and is directing. www.harrisdoran.com
