Betty’s house is finally starting to feel like a home again. After sitting abandoned and forgotten, our family was able to get this house for free — and we’ve been rebuilding it from the ground up so my sister Betty can have a safe, comfortable place to live again. Months of demolition, repairs, drywall, plumbing, electrical, and endless work have led up to this moment. This week marks a huge turning point. We’re finishing drywall work in the bathroom, priming the rest of the house, and putting real color on the walls for the first time. Watching these rooms transform from a construction zone into livable spaces has been emotional for all of us — especially for Betty.
