Current Conflicts and the Limits of International Humanitarian Law A Panel Discussion with John Packer, Dr. Nathan Derejko, Dr. Kjell Anderson, and Karyn Stone Wednesday, March 20, 2024 The MLT Aikins St. Paul’s College University Affiliation Lecture is presented annually by the Arthur V. Mauro Institute for Peace and Justice at St. Paul's College in collaboration with the University of Manitoba PhD and Joint M.A. (University of Winnipeg) Programs in Peace and Conflict Studies, the Peace and Conflict Studies Students Association, and with financial support provided by MLT Aikins. In 2024, the Lecture to the form of a Panel Discussion in further collaboration with the University of Manitoba’s Master of Human Rights Program and featured Karyn Stone, Dr. Nathan Derejko, and Dr. Kjell Anderson. The Panel was Moderated by Dr. Michelle Gallant. John Packer, Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Human Rights Research and Education Centre at the University of Ottawa, was scheduled to participate, but was unable to attend due to illness. Dr. Nathan Derejko is an Assistant Professor and Mauro Chair in Human Rights and Social Justice at the University of Manitoba. Karyn Stone is the Regional Coordinator, International Humanitarian Law (IHL) for the Canadian Red Cross. Dr. Kjell Anderson is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Master of Human Rights Program at the University of Manitoba. Moderator: Dr. Michelle Gallant is a Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba. This event was open to the public in-person and via Zoom webinar.
