After a quick stop in Port Hedland, we rolled into Eighty Mile Beach. Our first real taste of the coast where saltwater crocs and box jellyfish could be lurking 👀. The temptation to swim was real with those white sands and crystal-blue waters, but we kept our toes on dry land. Instead, we wandered the shoreline collecting shells and soaking up the magic of this famous beach. The caravan park looked great, but with the price a bit steep, we opted for a free camp just outside. From there, we made our way to Broome, and honestly… we needed this break. After clocking up some serious kilometres, five nights of taking it slow was exactly what the doctor ordered. Between sunset picnics on Cable Beach (with the iconic camels strolling past), exploring dinosaur footprints at Gantheaume Point, and wandering around Town Beach, we finally felt like we could breathe. We also checked out Willie Creek Pearl Farm, which gave us a really cool insight into Broome’s pearling history, and had a hilarious time attempting the float down Coconut Wells. Pro tip: bring floaties unless you want to end up beached like we did 😂 No wild croc sightings this time (probably for the best), but Broome gave us its own unique vibe and reminded us how special slow days can be on a big lap like this. 👉 Have you been to Broome? If so, what was your favourite part?
