Hi and welcome to this presentation of various trains and locomotives in operation in the beautiful alpine village of Arthur's Pass that sits among the impressive Southern Alps mountain range that spans the length of New Zealand's South Island of New Zealand. Various freight and coal trains and one of the world's top 10 train journeys the TranzAlpine that is operated by @GreatJourneysofNZ that runs from Christchurch on the East Coast to Greymouth on the West Coast and returns in the afternoon from Greymouth back to Christchurch. Including a rear up close look at two DM Class prototype locomotives that were build by Stadler Rail in Spain. These DM class locos were preforming trial runs between Otira and Arthur's Pass Village via the Otira Tunnel that links the East Coast to the West Coast at the time of filming this presentation. The Arthur's Pass Railway Station is located along the Midland Line that is the only railway link between the East and West Coasts on the South Island of New Zealand. Sit back and enjoy the impressive Dxc and Df class locos in operation in this section of the Mountains as their time hauling trains along the Midland Line is numbered as the new DM Class locos that are built in Spain will be taking over their roll in the next year or two.
