In this video I'll be explaining how to change the Crankshaft Position Sensor in a 2014 Porsche 981 Cayman S! I'll also solder some things and deal with some other problems, so stay tuned! When I woke up for work this morning, my 2014 Porsche 981 Cayman S had some check engine lights on. Alarmed, I did some research to find out that Autozone can read the codes from my car's ECU. After finding out that my crankshaft position sensor was showing an error, I visually inspected the sensor, which seemed fine at first, but after further investigation, it was discovered that a MOUSE ate the wires of my Porsche causing the error. Follow along with me as I realize, diagnose, and solve this issue. This tutorial can also be used for anyone who is looking to replace their Crankshaft Position sensor (or crankshaft speed sensor) on a Boxster 981, Cayman 981, 2013-2016 Porsche 911 Base model, and possibly all other variants of Porsche 911 991 bodystyle. Replacing the sensor is actually quite easy, with a T40 ort Torqx screwdriver and a few plastic car ramps, anyone should have an easy time replacing this sensor DIY. The sensor and spacer cost me $239.47 from porsche. If you watch my do it yourself tutorial, you'll see that my problems far exceeded just needing to replace the sensor, I actually needed to solder the wires of my plug back together because a MOUSE ATE THE WIRES IN MY CAR. Totally unexpected! I hadn't soldered anything in years, but I think the results speak for themselves. let me know what you think about this video, I'd love to hear from you!
