~ Ah the mojo men! at the time of filming this for american bandstand they were : don metchick/jan (ashton) errico/paul curico & jim alaimo cousin of actor/singer steve....this cover of a steve stills song 'sit down i think i love you' came out '67 on reprise records after the group 'the vejtables' deal with san francisco label 'autumn' crashed to a halt when label owners donahue & mitchell had lost all their money gambling on horses/drugs and some bad deals...all the roster went to warner bros but only the beau brummels got an album deal...drummer jan errico (cousin of greg errico of sly & the family stone..) along with vejtables guitarist ned hollis decided to leave fed up and disallusioned...being on friendly terms with the 'mojo men' personnel who in turn were looking for a replacement for their fed up drummer dennis decarr and who had recently through bassist jim alaimo tried to get grace slick to join! but in the end chose jan because she could play more instruments...this though was a big hit locally and nationally so got them touring and several t.v.appearances....many singles were released but all on the 'reprise' label plus a complete album that was never released...soon jan fed up with being a 'mojo man' had the band change names to plain old 'mojo' and signing a deal with 'grt records' late '68...an album was soon released in early 1969 'mojo magic' but the previously hard edged sound had gone and instead we got soft pop/rock....by late '69 it was all over for the band....most of the 'reprise' tracks have since appeared on several compilations and you wonder on hearing them why weren't they released at the time?...here we actually get an interview with host dick clark and hear 'em talk!...fabulous and rare...i have to thank my friend over at 'brucster99b' for allowing me to post this rare and illusive clip....as a sidebar to this guitarist paul curico went running & owning a couple of recording studios (one being pacific recording studios) and production work and got to record metallica's debut album 'kill 'em all'....
