Tribute to the british extreme noisemongers from late 1980s, namely Prophecy of Doom. Music is taken from their debut album, title track from 'Acknowledge the confusion master' and video was edited from this 1988 bootleg in its' original form here : • Prophecy Of Doom - Live in Exeter 1988 (pa... Prophecy of Doom was one of those bands that I found through listening finnish metal radio show (Metalliliitto) back in the day. PoD's album had just been released, late Spring 1990, and some track or two was played in the radio show (the title track "acknowledge the confusion master" and "rancid oracle" I think). Certainly this main title track was one of the tracks played, because I taped the songs played as usual back then and listened the tapes afterwards quite a lot, too. And this main title track stick to mind, with its' really neat drum outro, too. I recommended the PoD's album to my bigbro as adding it to buying list and so, it was amongst some big pile of vinyls he bought next summer ... bro was really baffled with PoD's album and thought it's more or less unlistenable - for me it was weird, too, sure, but far from unlistenable. It was intriguing album. The album flow wasn't easy for sure, and it definitely wasn't your conventional "extreme metal" back then. It had real experimental edge kind of, and some weirdness overall, especially with the vocals at times - but there were some really good tunes, too. Like for example this main title track amongst few others. Well worth checking out if you want to hear something different, in a way. So yeah. oddity of a band for sure, I remember I listened to this "confusion master" album somewhat lot. Fast forward to 1992 or so when they released their 2nd album "matrix", it wasn't bad but it didn't click with me in a way the debut did, and I didn't like the production (it could had been the biggest problem, thinner, weaker overall sound) ... so I listened to that notably less and then ... well, then the band simply vanished and it became that "extreme experiment" before extreme metal really rocketed in the early 1990s. Big bunch of years passed before I returned listening to "acknowledge the confusion master" album. Still a different, quite unique release, after all the(se) years. Despite being such a shortlived band, several members of PoD still play in various extreme metal outfits (which unsurprisingly are more or less undergroundish stuff, too). Check out for example bands like "Extinction of Mankind" (1 former PoD member) and "Pray u Prey" (2 former PoD members). Music style being death metallish stuff with crust / punk elements, at least with these two bands. Enjoy!
