Welcome to my review of the DX Change Sword [チェンジソード] from Dengeki Sentai Changeman [電撃戦隊チェンジマン]! This is my first video of 2014 and I really wanted to kick it off with something special. The Change Sword Box is one of the earliest DX weapon sets in the Super Sentai toyline and only the second made under the Bandai name (the Bio Sword box from Bioman was the first while the Dynarod Set from Dynaman was still made in the Popy days). The Change Sword functions much like the one in the show. It has a gun mode that can be broken down into a sword and shield set. The shield folds up to become the handle while the blade retracts within the sword to become the barrel. It's a pretty clever design and translates well to this toy. Included with the Change Sword is the belt, buckle, holster, and chest emblem. This has always been the standard amount of goodies included in one of these "Henshin Series" side-arm sets until the 2000s when buying the belt seperately would become the norm. This toy is actually pretty good. Really you need to put yourself into 1985 mode to truly appreciate how this is a great little set. If, for whatever reason, you are a close-minded individual who demands toys that scream at you when you insert whatever gimmicky item they throw at us these days--you will not see the charm here. If you are like that, let me tell you this... The Change Sword Box is a complete set in a box. It has everything you need to pretend to be your favorite Changeman (minus the toy helmet....sold seperately) and is very well made. It has simple parts, so it will never break unless you're way too rough on it. It doesn't need batteries, so it will never shout at you or annoy everyone around you. It's a simple toy of a cool design that relies on the fleeting concept of imagination. If I had to talk bad about this toy, it'd have to be about it's lack of a trigger. Painted or otherwise, it would've been nice to have something more than an uncolored little nub to represent the trigger in gun mode. Also, the picture of Changerobo on the back of the box is reversed for whatever reason. Ehh... Well that's all for now. January is side-arm month on my channel...so stay tuned for four more side-arm videos!
