Took a bit longer than I expected to get the footage with work schedule conflicts and bad weather, but here’s the winter layup tour for this year! Lots of ships and work being done this year, you can see much of Oberstar’s port side is being stripped of paint, and can even see a crane in action up on Lee Tregurtha in the shipyard. My girlfriend Shelby did most of the filming while I did the driving so give her a shoutout! You can get closer to many of these ships, there is a small access road down to American Century and Walter J McCarthy that is partially public access through the railyard down there (but if you do go, pay close attention to the signs, there are some off limits areas) and there is a pier going out into the middle of the bay at the shipyard that allows for some very close views. But for the interest of time and the fact that it had just stopped snowing and even the major roads were pretty bad, I didn’t want to get my car stuck in minimum maintenance areas. But I did point them out in the video and if you visit feel free to check them out! Ships in port and date built are: Walter J McCarthy Jr- 1977 American Century- 1981 Meteor- 1896 J.A.W. Iglehart- 1936 Michipicoten- 1952 Lee A Tregurtha- 1942 John J Boland- 1973 Hon James L Oberstar- 1959 Mary Ann Market- 2025 Edward L Ryerson- 1960 Atlantic Huron- 1984 Presque Isle- 1973 Sundew- 1944 William A Irvin- 1938 Spar- 2001 Hope everyone enjoys!
