Black History Month visibility. Long-term value. Indie author marketing. Author platform. Reader connection. In this episode of BTA Fridays – Breaking the Algorithm™, I’m talking about visibility versus value, and why Black History Month can be a great entry point for authors of color to get eyes on their book, but it cannot be the whole plan. Black History Month is the start. It’s not the anchor. If your marketing plan is “It’s Black History Month, buy my book,” you’re going to feel the drop when February ends. The real strategy is turning February attention into March momentum and building long-term traction that lasts past the calendar. What I cover in this episode: • Why themes last longer than calendar moments • How to make sure your book has an angle that lives past February • How to treat February like a doorway, not the destination • How to build a bridge with your content instead of making announcements • Why your marketing plan should be a two-month plan • Why visibility doesn’t automatically equal value • How value builds trust, readers, referrals, and long-term support Angles that can live past the month: Identity, healing, family, community, coming-of-age, self-worth, love, belonging, workplace dynamics, colorism, mental health, friendship, survival, and whatever themes your book truly centers. Ideas mentioned in this episode: • A follow-up post series that continues the conversation into March • A simple email list signup so readers can stay connected • A live Q&A or short book discussion • A “reader question of the week” to keep engagement going • Content prompts like: – Here’s the question my book is asking – Here’s the moment I wrote this for – Here’s who I hope finds this story – Here’s what I want readers to carry after the last page https://brightheadedpublishing.com https://brightheadedpublishing.com/be...
