The terrain of the route was a combination of field, riverside, woodland and enclosed paths, pavements, gravel paths and roads sections. The walking was easy on level ground. Route finding was easy with obvious paths, good waymarking and good landmarks. There were no stiles to negotiate. Along the walk you visit: St Neots and the Ouse Valley Way beside the River Great Ouse; Little Paxton Pits Nature Reserve and Little Paxton; the Ouse Valley Way and St Neots again. Scenery includes: fabulous riverside scenery with riverside dwellings, boats, narrow boats and water fowl; lovely lakes, woodland and fields. You may also encounter cattle in fields. I did this walk with my wife Anne whilst on a combined cat sitting and Cambridgeshire walking holiday during September 2019. We drove from our accommodation in Woodhurst, Cambridgeshire, north of St Ives, to the starting location of St Neots, Cambridgeshire.
