IRS Tax Refund Update August 2021 | Still Processing? | Why Tax Refund Delays?

Here is the latest IRS tax refund update for August 2021. According to the latest IRS news bulletin. The IRS is opening mail within normal timeframes and that all paper and electronic individual tax returns received prior to April 2021 have been processed, that is, IF the return had no errors or did not require further review. So, if your refund is delayed, then your return either had errors or requires further review. At this time, the IRS had 15.6 million unprocessed individual returns. This figure includes tax returns with resulting refunds, which are delayed, because they need to be manually reviewed. Unprocessed individual returns include tax year 2020 returns such as those requiring correction due to the Recovery Rebate Credit (which is claiming stimulus payments not received). And those returns requiring validation of 2019 income used to figure the Earned Income Tax Credit and Additional Child Tax Credit. This additional processing does not require the IRS to correspond with taxpayers, but does require special handling by an IRS employee. So, in these instances, it is taking the IRS more than their usual 21 days to issue any related refund and in some cases this additional processing work could take 90 to 120 days, according to the IRS. 🛑 Got a Side Hustle?
