From Baku to Istanbul - a 7-day adventure across three countries - 2024

We had already done a road trip by car before, and the video about our Balkan road trip is up on the channel, but this was our first multi-country trip by plane. Our first stop was Baku, which turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. A clean, calm city full of kind and welcoming people. The real adventure began when, after about four hours of driving, we reached Khinalug, the highest village in Azerbaijan, located very close to the Russian border. There, we were welcomed into a family’s home and shared an authentic lunch at their own dining table, then had the chance to walk around the entire village. From there, we flew to Georgia. We didn’t spend much time in Tbilisi, but after another long drive, we visited the famous rock-hewn cave city and, of course, tried khachapuri. We also rode a slightly questionable cable car and did our best to feed as many stray dogs as we could. Our final stop was Istanbul, where we spent less than 24 hours, which is why there isn’t much footage from there. We walked through the Grand Bazaar and visited the Blue Mosque. It was an exhausting but experience-filled journey across three countries, and one of the most exciting seven days of my life.
